College Information Night at South

Guidance Counselors at NHS South invite families and students to attend a College Information Night at 6:30 pm, Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at South Auditorium.

Counselors will present information about the college admission process, including how to search for colleges, schedule and maximize college visits, register for standardized tests, search for college application deadlines, and other preparatory information. College Information Night is very important for juniors to attend; however, freshmen and sophomores and their parents are welcome as well. The earlier students and parents start thinking and planning for college, the better.

North Invites Parents to Open House

Principal David Ryan and the North teaching staff are hosting a second semester Open House from 6:30 pm to 8 pm, Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at NHS North.

Parents will follow their child's class schedule and teachers will discuss class expectations, course requirements, needed materials, and grading policies. Open House will also provide the opportunity for parents to sign up for a Parent/Teacher Conference, which will take place Thursday, March 15, 2012 at North.

NHS North's Open House is a very valuable time for all parents because it initiaties the face-to-face relationship between the child's home and school. Parent attendance is key in building this relationship. North staff has made attending Open House more convenient for all parents this year by arranging for free bus transportation and childcare at North, if needed, and refreshments. North's hope is
all parents will take advantage of Open House and make a connection early in the school year with each of their child's teachers. All teachers and administrators will be on hand during Open House to answer questions.

If you have questions about Open House, please contact North main office staff at 603.589.6400.

North and South Scheduling Recommendations

The Nashua Board of Education approved last week recommendations regarding NHS North and NHS South daily schedules for classes.

As you may know, a High School Futures Committee, comprised of students, parents, and staff, was charged with reviewing how North and South scheduled their classes. The District set out to identify specific concerns related to high school scheduling, and determine whether or not to address those concerns through modifications in the current block schedule or the adoption of a different approach to scheduling. For a report on that review, related surveys, and a copy of the Board of Education-approved recommendations, please click on the information link below.

South Invites Parents to Open House

Principal Jennifer Seusing and the South teaching staff invite parents to attend Open House at NHS South from 6 pm to 7:30 pm, Thursday, February 9, 2012.

Teachers encourage parents to attend their children's Open Houses as one way to help them have a successful spring semester. Open House is a great way to meet their teachers, and learn about expectations for class assignments and assessments. Principal Seusing encourages parents to introduce themselves, become acquainted with the teacher, and sign up for parent-teacher conferences. This year parent-teacher conferences will take place Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at South.

If you have questions about Open House, please contact South main office staff at 603.589.4311.
